End of Chapter Activities

Below you will find case studies and case file activities students may complete at the end of the chapter. I have included the "Scenario" statements provided in the student textbook for each activity. For cases that do not list a "Scenario" or for scenarios that are extensive, I have provided a description of objectives instead. These "Case Files" will be used to guide each chapter.

Students will engage in many other activities provided by the textbook resource and they will access all activities through the Schoology platform.

Locard's Principle of Exchange

A dead body has been found. The CSIs determined that the body was moved after the killing. Trace evidence was found on the victim’s sock. It was determined that the crime could have occurred at three different sites. Can you determine if the trace evidence found on the victim’s sock is consistent with the trace evidence collected from any of the three sites?

Crime-Scene Investigation

The crime-scene investigation is a way to review many of the skills described in this chapter. A crime has occurred, and you and your investigative team must secure the area and properly collect the evidence. This activity is designed to help you understand the roles of the different people who process a crime scene.
